[Esta es una carta que fue escrita en respuesta a una pregunta de un cristiano acerca de la prohibición de comer sangre, que aparece en las Escrituras, y de si dicha prohibición podía ser relacionada con las transfusiones de sangre.]

Si Dios es bueno, ¿de dónde surgió el mal? ¿Por qué creó Dios al hombre capaz de pecar? Y, en todo caso, ¿por qué fue tentado el hombre? ¿Es el mal coeterno con el bien? ¿Hay quizá dos deidades, como afirma el Zoroastrismo, que son eternas, una buena y otra mala, en eterna lucha entre sí? En todo caso, si el mal tuvo un origen, en la caída de Lucifer o Satanás, ¿qué produjo esta caída? ¿Qué es lo que originó su caída y la primera entrada de mal en la creación de Dios? Y si es así, ¿por qué Dios lo permitió? Este artículo explora esas preguntas y apunta a las respuestas en conformidad a la Revelación Bíblica.

En este trabajo, el autor explora los orígenes de la moderna interpretación del surgimiento de las capas geológicas de la tierra mediante largos y lentos procesos de deposición y sedimentación, en contraste con la interpretación diluvial y cataclísmica predominante hasta comienzos del siglo XIX, que atribuía la deposición de las capas geológicas de la tierra a una dinámica de procesos cataclísmicos en un contexto diluvial. En palabras del autor en el Epílogo: «He tratado, en este artículo, de presentar cinco puntos importantes: Primero, la Sociedad Geológica de Londres, que dio nacimiento al paradigma actualista, no se compuso originalmente de un grupo de geólogos profesionales de campo, sino de caballeros, miembros del Parlamento, clérigos y abogados, que estaban interesados, y mucho, en las implicaciones políticas y teológicas de la Geología en la época del Proyecto de Ley de la Gran Reforma de 1832, cuando los radicales estaban desafiando el concepto de monarquía soberana, y los Tories lo estaban defendiendo. Segundo, que la Sociedad Geológica de Londres estaba dividida en dos bandos, y que los catastrofistas Tories prevalecieron hasta 1832 y que los radicales liberales, bajo la guía de Lyell, Scrope y, más tarde, Darwin, tomaron el poder durante el segundo cuarto del siglo pasado (hasta el presente). Tercero, que el «actualismo» fue promovido por los liberales como parte de la «causa» a fin de minar los fundamentos teóricos de la monarquía y no fue derivado de investigación de campo. Cuarto, a causa de que los Tories estaban utilizando tácticas represivas en política a fin de evitar la reforma del Parlamento, la tensión social se derramó sobre el debate geológico, causando el enorme interés geológico de los años 1820 y 1830 y el crecimiento exponencial de la recién formada Sociedad Geológica de Londres. This comes from one that in the past has consistently maintained a young-universe position as a necessary consequence from Scripture. This position has changed, because of Scripture. The explanation follows in the context of an examination of the current models generally proposed and defended by Christians as to the origin of the universe. While I do maintain that the biosphere was indeed made recently together with its inhabitants, with Man as the great purpose of God, I have come to see that the Scripture is silent as to the age of the Universe and of the Earth as a physical body, placing it in an undated past, not necessarily remote, but not dogmatically recent either. This has followed my reading of works written by G. V. Wigram, Dr. Bernard Northrup, and Gorman Gray, and conversations and messages from other Christians. To all of them my thanks for helping me see some weak points of a model that requires tuning up to the Scripture of Truth. And may we all learn to stick to Scripture, and not to go beyond Scripture. ...

Clear definitions of terms are required during any serious, rigorous discussion. This is particularly true in any discussion regarding origins; whether attention is given to origin of the universe, of matter therein, of the earth in the solar system, of plant and animal life on the earth, of mankind, or of man's culture.

A brief yet very important study of the fallacies of reasoing and their bearing on the discussions on Origins.

In this Essay, the author surveys the rise of the modern interpretation of the origins of the geological layers of the earth by means of long and slow processes of deposition and sedimentation, in contrast to the diluvial and cataclismic interpretation prevalent until the beginning of the XIX century, which ascribed the deposition of the geologic layers of the earth to a dynamic of cataclismic processes in a diluvial context. From the Author's Epilogue: "In this paper I have attempted to make five major points: first, the London Geological Society, which gave birth to the uniformitarian paradigm, did not originally consist of a group of practicing field geologists, but was comprised of gentlemen, members of Parliament, clergymen and lawyers who were primarily concerned with the political and theological implications of Geology at the time of the Great Reform Bill of 1832 when the concept of monarchical sovereignty was being challenged by the Whigs and defended by the Tories. Second, that the London Geological Society had been split into two camps with the Tory catastrophists prevailing before 1832 and liberal Whigs, under the leadership of Lyell, Scrope and, later, Darwin, taking over in the second quarter of the century. Third, that "uniformitarianism" was promoted by the liberals as part of "the cause" to undermine the theoretical foundations of monarchy and was not derived from field research. Fourth, because the Tories were using repressive tactics in politics to prevent the reform of Parliament, the social tension spilled over into the geological debate causing the intense interest in geology in the 1820's and 1830's and the exponential growth of the newly founded London Geological Society. The liberals, by seizing control of the London Geological Society before the Reform Bill was passed, presaged what was soon to follow in the political arena. And, fifth, once in control, the liberals attempted to cement their hegemony by repressing the catastrophists and by assimilating their data.
